To the Gym and Back

Last night I decided to ride to the gym and back, I told my co-worker Jamie that if I don't make it back I was going to call her to come pick me up. From my apartment it takes me 40 min. to the gym and then I take this 1 hr. body pump class and then another 40 min. back to my apartment. Its aprox. 8 miles one way for a round trip of 16 miles. I am currently looking at getting the polar speed sensor that has a wireless connection to my Polar S625x heart rate monitor that I bought a couple of months ago. That way I will be able to record the amount of cycling milage and it comes w/ software to download to my laptop. These days its all about wireless technology.

The ride was good the weather was warm, Its the first long ride I've been able to go on and truely get a feel for the aero bars and cadence speed. Maping out the route I took to minimize traffice streets was nice and I could focus on the ride rather that trying not to get hit by cars. I am still adjusting the seat post height to get optimal power for my down stroke as well as trying to reduce cockpit space (space in between ur arms and chest). Your body position is very important so that you don't end up with lower back pain, shoulder cramps, or sore knees. One thing I've noticed is that you do get dehydrated pretty quickly, so make sure if you are going on a ride longer than 45 mins bring plenty of fluid.
