I was on my lunch break today and thankfully we have a TV in our breakroom. I was watching an old Clint Eastwood classic "Outlaw Josey Wales" and in the first part where Josey's friend Fletcher brings in the band of renegades and is lied to by the Union Army. The old saying that Fletcher quotes really stuck out and I thought to myself, where did that come from?
Senator: The war's over. Our side won the war. Now we must busy ourselves winning the peace. And Fletcher, there's an old saying: "To the victors belong the spoils".
Fletcher: There's another old saying, Senator: "Don't piss down my back and tell me it's raining."
Which obviously means don't screw me over and then lie to me.
Other quotes from the movie that I like:
Josey Wales: Now remember, things look bad and it looks like you're not gonna make it, then you gotta get mean. I mean plumb, mad-dog mean. 'Cause if you lose your head and you give up then you neither live nor win. That's just the way it is.
Josey Wales: Are you gonna pull those pistols or whistle Dixie?
