Lets, Just say it was a cold morning 40 degree's @ a 7 am start and you have to walk a half a mile to the start line because there is not parking near by. I woke up @ 4:45 am in the morning and met everyone @ Tori house at 5:30.
The CIM started in Folsom right by Josh & Tracy's place finish's @ the capitol, downtown. About 5000 participants and about 500 relays. I didn't know that the CIM was so big and brought a couple million to the Sacramento econemy. Ppl were huddled in garbage bags to stay warm, I made sure I had enough layers and didn't need one for the first leg. They had pace runners w/ little red flags w/ a pace time on them that ran the race so you could run w/ them if you wanted to keep a certain time, I thought was cool. My leg was down hill which was nice, but also a trap. Going the distance you don't want your knee's taking to much impact if you go to fast going down for the long haul otherwise you will knee's will burn out. Tori brought a special smiley face balloon that made it easy to spot at every transition area where we passed the time chip.
That morning I had to leave right after my leg to make it to church and play for service on the music team. I was so tired, I need a piece of gum to keep me awake in service. (Thx Tracy!)Plus, I had a youth meeting afterwards from 1-4 pm, Man that was a long day. Overall it was a good experience and I'm proud of my team finishing just under 4 hrs =)
