2007 Race Season Has Begun

Greetings,

I first want to start off by thanking my wonderful gf Julia, Jon, and Serene for coming out so early to see me race, I really appreciate seeing your bright shiny smiles at the finish line.

This year I decided to try a new race in West Sacramento (Sacramento International Triathlon) I picked this one as a warm up but set my goal @ 2 hrs 30 mins. The race site was NOT to impressive, The swim is in a murky green reservoir and you have to run up a slippery boat ramp, then 200 yards on a thin carpet over gravel across pavement to the transition area which really was painful.

Well, Sunday morning as the sunshine came through my window, I awoke w/ a start to realize that my alarm hadn't gone off. I looked over @ the clock to see 6:30 blaring back at me. I had set my alarm for 5:30 am just enough time to suit up and be out the door a little after 6 am. I was in a little panic getting ready, but thankfully I packed everything the night before and loaded up my bike and was on the road by 7 am.

Breakfast: A cinnamon raisin bagel w/ peanut butter, banana, and protein bar ready to consume along w/ 32 oz. of water.

I arrived at the race parking area just off of harbor blvd. in the industrial part of town about a 5 min. walk to the transition area. It was a little after 7:15 am when I got my gear out of the car, checked tire pressure on the bike and road across the street to get a decent spot in the transition area. I layed out my gear, got a good warm up, and was looking for the body marking station. When I hear over the PA that there was not going to be body marking due to not wanting ppl to wait in lines. I thought this was a little unprofessional and it takes away from the race experience. I made one last pit stop before dressing down for my warm up swim.

2b continued ....
