"Assembly Required"
As the summer heats up my friends that have purchased new homes recently (Albert, Josh, Todd) all suggested that I install ceiling fan's in the house to save energy and my electric bill.
Last weekend, Julia and I stopped by Lowe's and picked up a 52 inch ceiling fan/light with remote control for a sales price of $60(fan) + $12(EE-bulbs) x 0.10% off= $64.80 total).
Make Sure:
Make sure you know where your circuit breaker box is located,
Make sure you turn off the circuit breaker before installation,
Make sure you have all the pieces (Fan, light, screws, ...etc.)
Make sure you have the right size light bulbs (They may not be included)
Make sure you have all the appropriate tools & equipment (Screw driver and ladder)
Make sure you take the plastic off the battery when you put it in the remote (Albert?)
Make sure you read the directions and look at the diagrams,
Instalation Steps:
- First secure the ceiling bracket and set the transmitter code on both transmitter and remote,
- Second wire the ceiling fan motor before you attach the fan blades (This will lighten the weight you have to hold up while securing the fan motor)
- Turn on circuit breaker and test power to fan motor (Make sure the direction switch on the motor is firmly set otherwise the motor will not spin)
- Third attach fan blades,

- Turn off circuit breaker before wiring light fixture,
- Fourth wire light fixture and attach to the base of the fan motor.
- Turn on circuit breaker and test fan/light.

There you have it, I hope this was a helpful tutorial.
