Mark and I raced in his very first triathlon and he finished well after getting back from his honeymoon at 3 am just 1 day prior to the race and being on a seafood and butter diet. Mark battled it out with the 29 and under crowd on the shores of Rancho Seco Park. The top water (lake surface) was very calm that morning almost like glass and an even temperature in the mid 80's was a nice surprise for race day conditions that kept us cooler than previous years.
With a tail wind going out on the bike course and minimal wind factor (5 mph) to deal with coming back made for a non-complicated ride. I caught Mark on the way back around mile 9 and we both encouraged each other as I lead the way back to T2.
Transition 2(T2) from bike to run went smoothly with little time to spare. As I started the 3 mile run, I reminded myself to start off slow and make sure to drink water at every aid station along the way because I have a tendency to cramp up if I start to fast. It took me about a half a mile before I got my running leg's going and at that point I felt pretty good through out the run.
Tips: One thing new I learned on the run. It helps for me to take a couple sips of water and then pour the rest down over my head. This cools my body temperature down as well as lets my skin (organ) have a cool drink.

Wow, I think I saw more of you in the pics then I really ever want to. How long does it take to erase the image of your butt from my fragile mind?
