Spirit West Coast 2008 is this way!

Last Saturday, the day before the infamous proposal, we traveled down to Monterey to the Spirit West Coast Festival. Its a three day event that takes place at the dusty Laguna Seca Race way and we just went for the last day. I have been there before in college and it was a fun time.

It took us a little over 3 hrs to drive down with minimal traffic. We took two cars and caravan down with Jerry & Lorraine, Mark & Tracey, and Sam. Peter & Cindy met us down there because they came from the bay area where they are in the middle of escrow on there first town home that is a couple of blocks from there apartment in Foster City.

When we arrived the weather seamed a bit nippy because of the fog, but by 10:30 the sun was out and it made for a very toasty afternoon. We all met at the will call booth to get out admission bracelets and then had to walk over an enclosed over pass that went over the speed way. We explored the venue, they had a veggietale land, inflatable games, exhibition tent, vendor island, free wifi, and 4 stages. After walking around for a while we headed for the main stage.Bands we heard: Group 1 Crew, Todd Agnew, Aaron Shust, SuperChic[k], and Kutlass (My favorites were Superchic[k] and Kutlass "Rock On!")

By the end of the day we were all sunburned, tired, and a little dehydrated. We would have been completely drained if it weren't for the deep dish nachos we had for lunch and the unlimited refill lemonade.

We left about 7 pm and headed for the Holiday Inn Express in Marina about 15 min. away to check in and clean up. All of us were famished and had a craving for seafood so we headed out for a late dinner at a recommended fish house by Wayne & Ruth. The Monterey Fish House is located on Del Monte Blvd. pretty close to the highway 1 exit. They have two type of delicious cioppino, one with the traditional Italian tomato broth (Above)and the other a clear seaside fish broth. Both are excellent depending on your preference. With our belly's full and a early morning start we headed back to the hotel to shower and hit the sack.
