The mini tri was good yesterday, I was alittle sore from the 25 mile bike ride the day B4, but that didn't effect my performance last night. I got to Granite Beach alittle bit early to set my stuff up and go for a 10 min. warm up swim. There were about 30 of us from the TBF group, We started about 6:15 pm and last time my friend Nora took an early lead in the swim. This time I got the jump on her even though we bumped into each other half way through I was able to maintain about 4 body length lead. I thought at first she was letting me lead so she could draft behind, but I think she had some goggle problems.
So, I cleared the water first and was able to hold the lead on the bike portion, Granite beach is a great bike course w/ rolling hills and flat spots to work on your speed and cornering. After the bike, I pushed hard the first lap on the run, just to get my legs use to the feel. Ran a couple laps before cooling down. During the running portion I tried squeezing the cup so that an edge was @ a point for better drink. Have u ever tried drinking, running, and trying to breath @ the same time with an open mouth cup. Its difficult and most of the time the water goes everywhere except ur mouth.
It was a good work out and I was trying to work on the kinks through the transition periods. I carried a cliff shot with me in the swim and I found it good to take it right after I exit the water running up the beach to save some time @ the transition area. I now ride the course w/out bike gloves and putting on my shoes is something I have to work on when you are wet. Now, I just have to find a nice place to work on steep climbs w/ my bike. hmmm ...
