Grip Positions

There are four positions that I like to use during a long ride:

1) Up on the hoods, Your arms are extended 45 degrees griping the bars on the top and brakes, best use for starts and stops on surface streets.
2) Drop down into aero position, (Only if you have aero bars) Usually for long rides not to much gear changing and no brakes, this position is good for descents and is the most aero dynamic.
3) Sprint, This is when you grip the bottom portion of the handle bars where it cures back, you have the best control down in the position but again no brakes. best use close to the finish line as you get up and out of your saddle and crank out some speed.
4) Climb, You grip the cross bar closest to you right at the neck, this is the most upright position which gives you the most power when going up a steap grade.

22 miles yesterday, down to Discovery Park and back. Sacramento Rio Gatos(RiverCats) vs Arizona Sidewinders, loss 8-1. The Kilbasa is the best w/ onions, green peppers, and sour kraut. yummm
